Fulton County Georgia was the target of a cyberattack on the weekend and the incident is under investigation, local authorities confirmed on Monday.
“We do not yet have a specific timeframe for when these systems will be restored, but we ask for your patience during this response,” said Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts, according to The Hill. “We at Fulton County take cybersecurity seriously and we place a high priority on the protection of sensitive information.”
The attack impacted the county tax system, phone lines, and judicial infrastructure. Pitts indicated that sensitive information on county employees or other individuals did not appear to be compromised. The FBI told The Hill it had communicated with Fulton County, but declined to comment further.
