Ukraine and Russia open to peace talks

  • Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army General Mark Milley, said that as many as 40,000 Ukrainian civilians and “well over” 100,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in the war.
  • Referencing the number of killed or wounded Ukrainian soldiers, Milley added, “Same thing probably on the Ukrainian side.”
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he is open to peace talks if Russia meets certain conditions, while Russia has also said it is open to talks and has announced a retreat from Kherson.
