  • In a South Florida court case, a jury awarded $800,000 in damages to Olivia Caraballo, a young girl who suffered severe burns when a hot Chicken McNugget fell on her leg while her mother was at the drive-thru of a McDonald’s restaurant in 2019.
  • The family’s attorneys sought $15 million in damages for the incident. After less than two hours of deliberation, the jurors delivered their verdict on Wednesday, as reported by the South Florida SunSentinel.
  • The jury’s verdict form allocated $400,000 in damages for the past four years and an additional $400,000 for future compensation. The defendants held responsible for the injury were McDonald’s USA and its franchise operator, Upchurch Foods.
