GOP Rep.-Elect Lawler: Congress Needs A ‘Come To Jesus’ Moment On Spending
- Republican South Dakota Senator John Thune told Bloomberg this week that Republicans intend to use the debt ceiling fight to push reforms to the entitlement programs, which make up the bulk of the federal budget.
- “There’s a set of solutions there that we really need to take on if we’re going to get serious about making these programs sustainable and getting this debt bomb at a manageable level before it’s too late,” Thune said.
- Later this month, Congress is expected to take up a budget resolution to fund the government until some time next year.
