At a series of campaign events in recent months, Walker has stated his mother is ‘a big part Native American,’ and that he is ‘proud to be black but…I may not be black,’ because had just learned that his mother is ‘part Native American.’ Most recently, in September, the candidate said his grandmother was a ‘full-blood Cherokee.’

However, his mother Christine said she ‘has no idea if an immediate ancestor was full-blooded Cherokee.’
