Hochul Gave COVID Contract To Donor Who Charged Taxpayers Double

  • A company that contributed nearly $300,000 to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul charged twice as much for COVID test.
  • Some companies charge New York $5 for rapid tests, but New Jersey-based Digital Gadgets charged as much as $13 as part of its no-bid deal.
  • “Whether it was pay-to-play or total incompetence – New York taxpayers and then the federal taxpayers got massively ripped off,” John Kaehny, of the good-government group Reinvent Albany, said of the Digital Gadgets deal funded by New York taxpayers with the help of federal relief aid.
