While the 2024 Iditarod Ceremonial Start was fun and all, the race to Nome is officially on with the restart Sunday in Willow. This year’s 1,000-mile race features three former champions, 16 rookies and contenders eyeing their first Iditarod victory.
Jessie Holmes enters his seventh Iditarod with two top-five finishes, each in the last two years.
“Dallas is back, Holmes said. “I get to race against one of the best, Pete [Kaiser]. There is just a lot of great competition out there. That is my time to shine. It is my time. I am racing to win.”
It could also be French-born Nic Petit’s year. Petit has six, top-10 finishes to his name including runner-up in 2018.
