Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday said Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer’s speech Thursday calling for elections in the country — presumably to oust him — was “totally inappropriate.

Netanyahu made the comment on CNN, following Schumer, the highest-ranking elected Jewish lawmaker in the U.S., also called the prime minister an “obstacle to peace” in his country’s war with Hamas in Gaza.

World leaders are concern about the rising civilian death toll and the need for more humanitarian aid.
