Brazilian landscape and nature photographer Fernando Braga shared a series of photos of the moment lightning struck the Christ the Redeemer (Cristo del Corcovado) monument in Rio de Janeiro.
Braga explained that he recorded the bolt that fell on the sculpture and on the Corcovado’s antennas between 6:55 p.m. and 7:03 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, using a Nikon D800 camera.
Brazilian media reported that the lightning strike, which took place on the head of the Christ like monument left the structure damaged. The famous Christ of the Corcovado is the work of Polish-born French sculptor Paul Landowski.Click to read full article
