Mahomes Father Driving With Open 16 Oz Coors When Arrested For DWI

Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl quarterback Patrick Mahomes, had an open can of beer in the car when he was pulled over and arrested in connection with DWI, according to a news report.

The incident occurred in Texas on Saturday night, a week before the Super Bowl in Las Vegas in which the Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers.

The arrest, at about 8 p.m., was Mahomes’ third for driving while intoxicated.

Mahomes was behind the wheel with an open beer in arm’s reach when officers flagged him down in a routine traffic patrol, according to an affidavit obtained by the New York Post.

Mahomes, a former Major League Baseball pitcher, admitting having had “a few beers” at a local bar.

The third charge carries a penalty a maximum 10 years behind bars and a $10,000 penalty.
