Mother Of Michigan School Shooter Guilty Of Involuntary Manslaughter

Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of the Oxford High School shooter, has been found guilty of all four counts of involuntary manslaughter by a jury.

The sentencing for Jennifer Crumbley is scheduled for April 9. Following a week-long trial to determine her potential responsibility for the Oxford High School shooting, where her son fatally shot four students and injured seven others on Nov. 30, 2021, jury deliberations commenced Monday.

Jennifer Crumbley is notably the first parent in the United States to face trial in connection with a mass school shooting perpetrated by their child.

Her husband, James Crumbley, faces a separate trial scheduled to commence on March 5. Both parents have been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter.

They are accused of neglecting to address their son’s mental health needs adequately and of purchasing the gun used in the shooting. The shooter himself was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in December.

Jennifer Crumbley’s cross-examination concluded on Friday, with closing arguments commencing thereafter, during which the mother herself took the stand. The prosecution and defense each presented closing arguments lasting over an hour.
