Nearly 60% Of California Voters Oppose Cash Reparations

A recently released by the Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies show California voters overall oppose cash reparations compensate the descendants of American slaves  by nearly 60%.

The poll follows a state task force recently recommended making cash reparations.

“While many can empathize with the plight of Black Americans, not all of these feelings will translate into support for policies that address longstanding racial harms,” said institute co-director Cristina Mora. A”nd though this might be an information issue for some groups, the fact that even liberals are divided indicates that campaigns for racial redress will face a steep uphill climb.”

The poll found that 43% of Democrats favor the idea, while 42% oppose cash reparations. Ninety-one percent of Republicans reject the concept.
