McCarthy Makes Progress But Still Falls Short

  • The House of Representatives convened on Friday for the 12th round of voting in speaker election that has gone on for 4 days where House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy picked up fourteen votes from GOP holdouts.
  • He’s still on track to lose the 12th round with 213 votes due to seven conservatives voting against him. None voted present, according to the unofficial tally.
  • For the first time, McCarthy picked up more votes that House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who against received 211 votes in the latest round.
