Olympic Boxer Found Guilty For Helping Kidnap, Kill Pregnant Ex-Lover

  • A Puerto Rico boxer has been found guilty on federal charges in connection with the 2021 murder of a pregnant woman, federal prosecutors said.
  • A federal jury on Friday convicted Félix Verdejo-Sánchez, who competed in the 2012 Olympics, on kidnapping that also resulted in death and intentional killing an unborn child, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Puerto Rico.
  • Verdejo-Sánchez was charged in connection with killing a woman who told him she was pregnant with their child.
  • Prosecutor said a co-defendant helped him commit the kidnapping that resulted in the death of the 27-year-old woman and her unborn child.
  • The co-defendant accepted a plea deal in the case in November 2022.
