Poll: Most Voters Oppose Efforts Banning Gas-Powered Cars

Only 1.4 percent of Americans think ban on gas-powered vehicles will lead to reliable energy independence

  • A plurality of voters are opposed to measures banning gas-powered vehicles, a poll by the Convention of States and the Trafalgar Group found.
  • When asked what would provide America with “reliable, long-term energy independence,” more than 40 percent responded with “increasing oil and gas production.”
  • The poll also found that 25.5 percent think that prioritizing “new energy investments on renewables like solar and wind” is the best option.
  • Just 1.4 percent think that eliminating gas-powered vehicles and transitioning to electric will lead to reliable energy independence for America.
