Pompeo Questions Trump As Fiscal Conservative, $6T ‘More In Debt’
Pompeo has not announced a bid to challenge former President Trump for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, but he increasingly sounds and appears like he will. Before the comment Sunday, he made a main-stage speech last week at the major conservative activist gathering CPAC.

- The former Kansas GOP congressman and Trump administration CIA director and secretary of State, made the comments about the national debt and Trump on “Fox News Sunday.”
- When ask whether he as president would be better than Trump at managing debt, said, “I think a President Pompeo or any conservative president will do better than not only we did during the four years of the Trump administration, but [also under] Barack Obama, George Bush.
- When asked whether he was saying Trump wasn’t a true conservative leader, Pompeo replied, “Six trillion dollars more in debt, that’s never the right direction for the country.”
