Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) and Republican challenger David McCormick are set to face off against each other in November for a seat that will help determine which party retains control of the Senate.

Both Pennsylvania candidates easily won their primary races on Tuesday, as neither candidate had any competitors running against them. The Associated Press called the races for both primaries at 8:01 p.m.

McCormick is running for a second chance to serve in the upper chamber after losing the GOP primary for the Senate to Dr. Mehmet Oz during the 2022 midterm elections.

The Keystone State is one of the seven key battleground states that will determine not just who controls the Senate but the presidency and the House.

Republicans have been itching to retake a Senate seat back from Democrats after they flipped former Pennsylvania Republican Sen. Pat Toomey’s seat and see McCormick as the best chance for victory.

The Koch brothers-aligned super PAC, Americans for Prosperity Action, has begun knocking on doors in Pennsylvania on behalf of McCormick. The group’s goal is to have knocked on 1 million doors before the race is over.
