Protesting Pays: NYC Rioters Get $7M Settlement

- New York City has agreed to pay over $20,000 each, to the hundreds of protesters who participated in the 2020 George Floyd protests and were “arrested, detained, and/or subjected to force by police officers.”
- According to NBC News, the settlement filed late Tuesday states that the city will compensate $21,500 to the 300 protesters detained in the aftermath of the Mott Haven neighborhood protest in the Bronx on June 4, 2020.
- If approved, the total cost of the settlement would be at least $7 million, making it the highest per-person settlement award in a mass arrest class action lawsuit.
