Sen. Barrasso Announces Wife’s Death Following Cancer Battle

Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) announced on Thursday that his wife, Bobbi, has passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Barrasso expressed that Bobbi, a devoted wife, mother, and advocate for Wyoming, is now at peace.

“After a courageous battle with cancer, Bobbi is now at peace and at home with the Lord. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Bobbi was a leader, fierce advocate for Wyoming, and friend to everyone she met,” said Barrasso in a statement.

Bobbi, 70, succumbed to a Glioblastoma brain tumor at her home in Casper, Wyo. on Wednesday night. She fought the illness for two years.

Senator Barrasso and Bobbi got married in 2008 after a five-year courtship. They have three children – Peter, Emma, and Hadley. Bobbi is also survived by her younger brother, Mike.

A Wyoming native, Bobbi grew up in Thermopolis and earned degrees in speech pathology and law from the University of Wyoming. She had a notable career in public service, working for the late Senators Malcolm Wallop (R-WY) and Craig Thomas (R-WY). Bobbi co-founded Congressional Spouses for Suicide Prevention and Education, aiming to raise awareness about suicide in Wyoming and the nation.

In 2003, Bobbi faced breast cancer, successfully recovering after undergoing surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. She later became an advocate for early detection and treatment, actively participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and Komen Wyoming.
