- U.S. service members are being forced to pay back their recruitment bonuses after they were fired for not getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
- A former Army soldier who refused to comply with the Pentagon’s vaccine mandate said he was told that he didn’t fulfill his 6-year contract and that he owed the government a prorated $4,000.
- The soldier had deployed “multiple times” and had to “sell” 60 unused vacation days to cover the amount owed.
- The fiscal year 2023 National Defense Authorization Act included a provision to repeal the military vaccine mandate, though the Pentagon has said they are not making an attempt to provide back pay for the thousands of troops fired for not getting the vaccine.
