A swiftly moving nor’easter brought snowfall to New York City and other major metropolitan areas in the Northeast on Tuesday morning, leading to power outages and disruptions in travel, work, and school routines.

While the snow has ceased in many regions, parts of New England are still experiencing snowfall, expected to persist until later in the afternoon.

As of Tuesday morning, more than a foot of snow has accumulated in certain areas of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

New York City’s Central Park recorded a total of 3.2 inches of snowfall on Tuesday, marking the snowiest day since January 29, 2022. This ends a record-breaking streak of 744 consecutive days without experiencing 2 inches or more of snowfall in a single day.

While snowfall in the city diminished rapidly by early Tuesday afternoon, it is expected to continue in Long Island. Meanwhile, the surrounding metropolitan area and parts of nearby New Jersey have observed an increase in snowfall.

The city of Boston is currently under a winter weather advisory until 7 p.m. Residents can expect 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation, with the heaviest snowfall forecasted until 2 p.m. Additionally, winds are gusting up to 35 mph. The snowfall is anticipated to taper off around 6 p.m.
