The Supreme Court has granted permission to hear a case regarding the ability of Democratic lawmakers to sue in order to obtain documents associated with former President Trump’s former hotel in Washington, D.C.
While the focus on the hotel documents has diminished in the dispute, as some of the lawmakers who initiated the lawsuit are no longer in Congress or have passed away, Democrats have obtained many of the requested materials through alternative means.
The case’s significance extends beyond the specific hotel-related documents, as it will determine the extent to which the minority party in Congress can scrutinize a presidential administration.
