• Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and a group of GOP Senators reintroduced legislation Thursday that would defund sanctuary cities and allow local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
• The Daily Caller first obtained a copy of the bill, which is titled the Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act. The legislation would specifically pull taxpayer-funded grants to sanctuary cities.
• “So-called ‘sanctuary cities’ refuse to enforce the laws on the books and release violent criminals in our country illegally —including rapists and murders — who go on to prey on both American citizens and the immigrant community,” Cruz said.
