Tesla Recalls 2 Million Vehicles

Tesla is reportedly recalling over 2 million vehicles due to issues with warning lights on instrument panels, according to news reports.

The issue is expected to be resolved with “over-the-air” software, according to The Wall Street Journal. That means owners will not have to take their vehicles to a dealership to resolve the matter.

The issue, more specifically, is the font size of the warning lights on Tesla display panels being too small, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which said it discovered the problem during a routine audit of Tesla vehicles.

The agency said issue “can make critical safety information on the instrument panel difficult to read, increasing the risk of a crash.”

In addition, the NTSB is also upgrading its probe – to an engineering analysis – into the loss of power steering loss in Tesla vehicle. The step required before the NTSB can potentially demand a recall, according to Reuters.

The agency said Thursday more than 334,000 2023 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles are subject to the engineering analysis.
