• Texas GOP Rep. Chip Roy, among the most conservative in the House Republican Conference, criticized the tentative President Biden-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy debt ceiling deal Sunday, after the agreement was announced late Saturday.
• Roy used social media to pushed back on McCarthy’s claim of “Fox News Sunday” that “more than 95 percent of all those in the conference were very excited” about the deal.
• “1st – the leadership playbook is to line up cheerleading on phone calls to demonstrate ‘unity.’ 2nd, not 95%,” he tweeted. “I know of more no’s than that already. 3rd, they haven’t been educated yet on what a turd-sandwich this ‘deal’ is. They will be.”
