Time To Cancel Netflix: Another Price Hike, Cheapest Ad-Free Service To $17.49

In a recent forecast by industry analysts, video streaming giant Netflix is poised to implement yet another price surge this year — a move anticipated to follow closely on the heels of recent rate adjustments.

According to John Hodulik of UBS Securities, whose insights are regarded with high esteem in the sector, an announcement from Netflix concerning rate hikes seems imminent. “We expect to see rate increases this year,” Hodulik mentioned in his latest briefing on the streaming service’s financial strategies.

Just last fall, Netflix revised its membership tiers, discontinuing its $9.99 monthly ‘basic’ ad-free option for new subscribers. Instead, the price for existing subscribers under this plan experienced a rise, reaching $11.99. Consequently, the most affordable ad-free package currently available to new subscribers is the ‘standard’ plan, which demands a monthly fee of $15.49.

Historically, Netflix’s price revisions tend to oscillate between a $1 to $3 increment. Should the company opt for a median escalation within this spectrum, customers availing of the standard plan might witness their monthly bills ascend to approximately $17.49.

Netflix’s pricing strategy reflects a broader trend in the streaming industry, as services continually adjust their offerings to balance content quality, platform development, and market competition. Subscribers are advised to stay informed on policy changes that may affect their service experience and billing.
