Top House Republicans within hours of the news that three U.S. solider were killed by drone attack in the Middle East urged President Biden to retaliate against Iran.
In addition to the fatalities, at least two dozen others were injured in the strike, reportedly in Jordan, near the Syria border.
Biden swiftly said the strike was carried out by “radical Iran-backed militant groups.”
Among the top House Republicans urging Biden to act was House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner.
The Ohio Republican also said the drone strike was a “direct result of the administration’s failure to respond to previous attacks.”
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell suggested the world is now waiting for an indication the president “is finally prepared to exercise American strength to compel Iran to change its behavior.”
