- Speaking on an episode of War Room broadcast from the Turning Point USA “Americafest” event, FL Congressman Matt Gaetz had some tough words for Donald Trump’s choice to endorse Kevin McCarthy as speaker of the House once Republicans take the majority in January.
- “I can’t wait to vote for Donald Trump in the 2024 election, but if Donald Trump believes that Kevin McCarthy should be speaker of the House, then Donald Trump is wrong. And Donald Trump has not always nailed it on the HR front,” Gaetz said.
- McCarthy needs 218 votes to become speaker, and Gaetz has repeatedly and publicly said he does not support McCarthy in the role.
