• Texas Republican Rep. Kevin Brady, ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee, warned that Democrats’ decision to release former President Trump’s tax returns could set a dangerous precedent.
• Brady said that after releasing the former president’s tax returns, it was a short leap to doing the same for other public figures, such as Supreme Court justices.
• “Going forward, the majority chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee will have nearly unlimited power to target and make public the tax returns of private citizens,” Brady said at a news conference.
