  • According to the Census Bureau’s projections, the U.S. population is anticipated to experience its first-ever decline by the year 2100 after reaching its peak in 2080.
  • Estimates from the Census Bureau, which were unveiled on Thursday, indicate that the current U.S. population of approximately 333 million is projected to reach 370 million by 2080.
  • However, it is then expected to decrease to 366 million by 2100. This demographic shift can be attributed to a combination of factors, including a trend of fewer Americans opting for larger families and declining fertility rates. Notably, the growth of the U.S. population is significantly dependent on immigration, with immigration serving as the primary driving force behind population numbers in America in all scenarios except the “zero-immigration” projection.
