• Politico reporter Eric Geller has been fired after a controversial Tweet calling Pope Benedict XVI a “homophobic pedophile protector and Hitler Youth alumnus.”
• “When asked if Geller was fired, Politico’s vice president of marketing and communications Brad Dayspring declined to comment but pointed to a tweet of his own that suggested Geller’s comment violated company policy and could lead to termination,” reported The Daily Mail.
• Geller’s LinkedIn profile and social media handles removed all references to Politico and now list him as “cybersecurity journalist in Washington, D.C.”
