Yale Upsets No. 4 Auburn In 1st Round Of NCAAs, Makes Early Bid For ’24 Cinderella Team

The Ivy League has caused some more March Madness chaos.

One year after Princeton’s run to the Sweet Sixteen, No. 13 Yale on Friday stunned No. 4 Auburn, 78-76, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

John Poulakidas scored 28 points for the Bulldogs, and they survived a late disaster — with a late foul giving the Tigers a chance to tie in the final seconds — and secured the win when a final Auburn 3-point heave didn’t go.

Yale will play next the winner of the San Diego State vs. University of Alabama Birmingham.
