IRS Employees Allegedly Stole COVID Aid For Car, Clothes, Vegas Trips

  • The Department of Justice announced Oct. 4 that five IRS employees allegedly had stolen nearly $400,000 in fraudulently obtained COVID relief aid.
  • The DOJ said the IRS employees allegedly used the money for clothes, jewelry, a Mercedes-Benz and trips to Las Vegas.
  • Less than two weeks ago, the Department of Labor announced that 1,000 people had been charged with stealing more than $45 billion in fraudulent unemployment insurance benefits during the pandemic.
