Migrants From More Than 140 Countries Apprehended At Border

Most from Mexico, Cuba, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Guatemala

  • U.S. Border Patrol agents have encountered migrants from 147 countries at the southern border in Fiscal Year 2023, which began in October, according to the agency’s top leadership.
  • Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz informed lawmakers that out of the more than 900,000 undocumented migrants apprehended since October, most came from Mexico, Cuba, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Guatemala.
  • At least 225,476 migrants apprehended came from Mexico, 116,878 came from Cuba, 94,197 from Nicaragua, 71,629 from Colombia, and 68,204 from Guatemala.
