• On April 22, 2023, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged William Kenneth Howard, 57, of Southfield, in connection with the possession of a weapon on school property. Mr. Howard is a teacher at Cody High School, located in the 18440 block of Cathedral Street in Detroit.
• On April 19, 2023, at 1:32 p.m., it is alleged that Mr. Howard brought an unsecured and unlicensed handgun inside the school in his knapsack. It is further alleged that the weapon fell out of the knapsack onto a hallway floor. Detroit policer officers were called to the scene and placed the teacher under arrest.
• William Kenneth Howard has been charged with one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon and one count of Possession of a Weapon in a Weapons-Free School Zone.
