Biden Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm announced fresh efficiency regulations for electric motors, beverage vending machines and dishwashers. These actions are the latest among several taken by the Biden administration to combat climate change and reduce power usage.
The announcement asserted that the limitations would reduce costs for American consumers by decreasing energy consumption. Granholm stated that the administration is “leveraging all available resources to save Americans money while promoting innovations that will help cut carbon emissions and fight the climate emergency.”
According to Energy Department officials, consumers would need to spend an extra $15 for a new dishwasher but would save three times as much in energy costs over the appliance’s lifetime.
