Former President Donald Trump said Monday he would go jail over his repeated violations of a gag order in his New York City criminal hush money trial because the “Constitution is much more important than jail.”

Trump last month was fined $9,000 for nine violations, and on Monday was fined again for one, with Judge Juan Merchan warning that the next violation could result in jail time.

“This judge has given me a gag order and said, ‘You’ll go to jail if you violate it,’” Trump said in a video posted to Truth Social. “Our Constitution is much more important than jail. It’s not even close. I’ll do that sacrifice any day.”
