  • The United Auto Workers (UAW) union has granted authorization for a strike during ongoing negotiations with prominent automakers, as indicated by the union.
  • In the recent vote, 97% of the union members favored the option of striking, involving its 150,000 autoworkers. This decision comes as discussions persist with the major automakers collectively referred to as the Big Three – Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis – according to a press release from the union.
  • The UAW’s key demands include wage hikes to counter inflation, the preservation of defined benefit pensions, continued healthcare support for retirees, and the eradication of wage and benefit tiers, among other requirements.
