Boy Sent Home From School Over Shirt Saying ‘There Are Only 2 Genders’ To Sue

The Morrison family intends to pursue legal recourse against Nichols Middle School (NMS), alleging a violation of their son Liam’s First Amendment rights. The controversy arose when Liam was instructed to remove a shirt in late March bearing the statement, “There are only two genders.”

Attorneys representing NMS conveyed to the Massachusetts Family Institute (MFI), which is advocating for the Morrison family, that they would continue to prohibit Liam from wearing the shirt to school, despite his intention to wear it again on May 5.

In response, the 7th grader wore a T-shirt stating “There are censored genders” to school. However, shortly after the school day began, he was instructed to remove the shirt.
