Chris Christie Says He Would Not Pardon Trump

In a candid interview on “The View,” GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie unequivocally declared that he would not grant a pardon to former President Trump, even in the hypothetical scenario of Trump’s conviction.

When co-host Joy Behar raised the issue and mentioned that other GOP presidential candidates Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis had expressed willingness to pardon Trump, Christie promptly responded with a firm “no.”

Drawing on his experience as a former governor, Christie emphasized the significance of accepting responsibility when considering pardons.

He questioned whether Trump would ever acknowledge and take responsibility for his actions, a crucial factor for Christie in the decision-making process. The former New Jersey governor went on to assert that if Trump refused to accept responsibility, granting a pardon would be an easy decision, stating, “You don’t accept responsibility? Too bad. Go to jail.”

Christie’s remarks come as Trump faces four criminal indictments encompassing a total of 91 charges. Among these cases are allegations related to Trump’s efforts to contest the 2020 election results and his willful retention of sensitive government documents despite being subpoenaed for their return.

Christie’s firm stance on accountability adds another layer to the ongoing discussions about the legal challenges surrounding the former president as the 2024 presidential race unfolds.
