COVID-19 Cases In California Now Over 12 Million, XBB.1.5 Now Dominant

California reportedly crossed the 12 million mark last week, amid increased circulation of the omicron sub-variant XBB.1.5.

  • The case data was compiled by The Los Angeles.
  • The sub-variant is perhaps the most infectious strain of the virus but  Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said the state has not had a major increase in cases associated with XBB.1.5.
  • In addition, newly reported infections are declining and stabilizing in recent weeks. And hospitalizations have dropped to levels not seen since mid-November, indicating less strain on the health care system.
