Iowa Democrats will to caucus this year to pick a 2024 presidential nominee, after major problems with the process in 2024.

They will instead mail in their ballots, and the results will be announced later this week, on Super Tuesday.

The decision to break from several years of tradition included other factors: A Democratic incumbent in Joe Biden is in the White House and the reshuffling of the Democrats’ 2024 calendar to prioritize more diverse states.

However, the change has raised concerns about the deterioration of Democrats’ grassroots organizing and prospects for success in a state that has morphed from a toss-up into a Republican stronghold over the last decade.
