DeSantis Suspends School Board Members Over Parkland

Governor on Friday suspended four Broward County School Board members after findings of grand jury investigating response to 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting.

  • State grand jury reportedly recommends five members be removed.
  • DeSantis said he removed the board members for “incompetence, neglect of duty, and misuse of authority,” and replaced them.
  • Seventeen students and staffer were killed in mass shooting in Parkland, Florida.
  • “We hope this suspension brings the Parkland community another step towards justice,” DeSantis said.
