A driver crashed into an exterior gate at the White House on Monday night, officials said.
The crash occurred at about 6 p.m., and the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody, according to Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi.
“We are investigating the cause & manner of the collision,” he also said.
President Biden was not at the White House at the time of the incident. He has a campaign stop in South Carolina and the was headed to Texas.
The crash caused traffic delays at 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
