- Ukraine was rushing on Wednesday to evacuate tens of thousands of people at risk from flooding in the southern region hit by the destruction of the crucial Kakhovka Dam.
- Ukraine’s chief prosecutor has launched a criminal investigation into the dam’s destruction, accusing Russia of “ecocide,” but Russia denies any involvement and blames Ukrainian artillery for the breach.
- The Kakhovka reservoir will cease to exist in two or three days due to a drop in the water levels and a new channel of the Dnipro River will be formed, a Russian-installed official in the neighboring region said.
- The Kakhovka Reservoir is draining so fast that within a matter of days the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant may not be able to pump water from the lake to cool its reactors, the International Atomic Energy Agency has said.
