New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) has advocated for the deportation of migrants involved in the assault on two New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers in Times Square last weekend.

In response to the attack captured in a video posted on social media, Governor Hochul expressed her stance on CNN’s “This Morning,” stating, “Get them all and send them back. You don’t touch our police officers. You don’t touch anybody.”

According to an NYPD spokesperson, all seven suspects involved in the attack are confirmed to be migrants. The video footage shows officers attempting to subdue an individual in a yellow shirt or coat, leading to a struggle that resulted in both officers falling to the ground. Subsequently, they were assaulted by other men who kicked and hit them.

Following the incident, four men were initially arrested and charged with gang assault, obstructing government administration, and assaulting a police officer.

A fifth individual faced charges on Monday for attempted assault. Notably, all five individuals were released without bail.

Recent updates indicate that two additional suspects were arrested, bringing the total to seven, as confirmed by an NYPD spokesperson. However, it remains unclear whether these additional individuals have been released.
