Jan 6 Committee Now Asking Gingrich, Drip, Drip

Democrat-led House committee investigating Jan. 6 riot at Capitol now asking former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to voluntarily sit with its investigators.

  • Committee leaders think Georgia Republican advised the Trump team in the days after former president’s lost 2020 reelection.
  • “Information obtained by the Select Committee suggests that you provided detailed directives about the television advertisements that perpetuated false claims about fraud in the 2020 election,” committee told Gingrich in a letter.
  • Committee also says Gingrich suggested ads needed “call to action” to influence voters to contact high-level White House staffers on how Trump could challenge state elector slate.
  • Unofficial list of those subpoenaed to testify is 86 and includes such other Trump allies or former staffers as former senior White House aide Stephen Miller, Fox New Channel host Sean Hannity, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Ivanka Trump, the former president’s daughter and former senior White House adviser.
