- U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin ruled that a federal ban on possessing a gun with its serial number removed is unconstitutional.
- This is the first ruling of its type since the U.S. Supreme Court expanded gun rights in June.
- Goodwin, who serves on the federal district court in Charleston, W.Va., said the law not consistent with the United States’ “historical tradition of firearm regulation.”
