- The weekend fire that closed the 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles was set intentionally and likely arson, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday.
- He also said a structural assessment of the highway’s upper deck found it to be “much stronger than originally assessed.”
- However, Newsom said demolishing the most heavily damaged stretch of the highway is still a possibility and that over 100 columns were damaged.
- The fire Saturday erupted in two storage lots under the interstate, on which hundreds of thousand of motorist commute daily.
