Former Vice President Mike Pence has refuted the theory that the FBI played a role in the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol.

During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Pence stated that he has accepted the FBI’s repeated assurances that they were not involved in the insurrection and added that he is grateful for their efforts in finding and prosecuting attackers.

Pence, who was present in the Capitol during the attack and was evacuated for safety, voiced support for the FBI’s efforts to bring justice to those who rioted.

Former President Donald Trump has claimed that Antifa and the FBI “were leading the charge,” suggesting that those who have been arrested for participating in the riot are “hostages.” Congressman Elise Stefanik echoed Trump’s statements in a recent episode of “Meet the Press,” where she described individuals detained in connection with the insurrection as “hostages.”

Pence believes that everyone involved in the riot needs to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. With many already arrested and convicted, law enforcement agencies continue to search for others who may have played a role in the attack.
